Overview: Wes Austin, grew up in the “Gateway to the Blue Ridge” From this region and its many influences as well as from his family is where Wes began his appreciation for music. “My whole family sang... in the car, at church, and even in the shower”. It was just life. At the early age of 11 Wes cut his teeth in Southern Gospel. By 17 He was regularly touring with acts such as The Sounds of Glory and Heirs to the throne. By then, Wes had found his favorite song “jesus and momma always loved me”(Confederate Railroad) and felt at home with its message. It was this song and his many traditional country influences that drove him into Country Music. But the greatest single influence in his life was a statement made to him by his grandad. “Son, judge a song by the way it touches your heart- not who sings it or what genre it is in." That is what a true artist is about---giving everyone a piece of their heart one note, one word, one song at a time.
