Randy VanVooren

Overview: Hey There Country Fans! My name is Randy VanVooren, I hail from that booming metropolis of Peshtigo, WI (40 miles N. of Green Bay). In 2007 I was named "Songwriter Of The Year" by The Songwriters Of Wisconsin International (SOWI) which was a pretty cool honor, since my songs have been critiqued by some of the Music Industries "do-ers" from across the world! I have been writing and playing for what seems an eternity,..... hoping to validate my work, by having Major Artists cut my songs. I have been fortunate enough to rub elbows with and hang with some of Music City's finest, building those "relationships" that are needed to get a foot in the door of such a competitive and political business. I try to get down to Nashville as many times as I can each year, and each trip is a Great new experience. I recently put out my first "solo" CD, and would like to thank Clear Channel and its stations for the opportunity of getting it heard!

  BIOGRAPHY
Randy VanVooren
Singer / Songwriter / Entertainer

Born in Columbus Georgia and relocated to Northeastern Wisconsin,….
Randy received his first guitar and started taking lessons, at the tender age of 7.
His musical Journey has taken him from playing in cover bands performing everything from Abba to ZZ top with everything from Polkas to Alternative Rock in between. In 1982, His band “Stormer” was one of the first bands in Northeast Wisconsin to cut their first “45”. The song “On The Road” was played daily on radio stations throughout the Mid-West. In the mid 80’s he took his talents to St. Petersburg Florida, and then to Boston, Massachusetts, where he had the opportunity to personally meet and sit in with some of the up and coming Rock Talents of the early nineties. Returning back to Wisconsin, in the mid 1990’s His band “South Ellis” cut 2 full length CD’s comprised of all original material written by Randy VanVooren. “South Ellis” was a mid-west success with regional air-play and the opportunity to open for National acts such as “.38 Special” and others. In 2001 Randy formed the Hot Country Band “Rivertown”, and they recorded their first Full Length all original CD. All the songs except one, were written by Randy, and were such a success, that a second “pressing” was required to accommodate the fans requests. In 2002, they impressed G-A-C’s VJ Chris Conn so much that three of the songs were featured Nationally on his syndicated radio show “The Conman Radio show”, for an unprecedented 3 straight weeks in a row. In 2004 “Rivertown” released it’s 2nd full length CD with 9 of the 13 songs written by Randy and have headlined festivals across Wisconsin and Michigan since 2001, also opening for National Acts such as Little Texas, Clay Walker, Travis Tritt, Sawyer Brown, Cowboy Crush, BlackHawk, Ricochet, Jamey Johnson, and many others.
For 2 years, (In the Green Bay Market), Randy hosted (2) radio shows: “BigVin’s Rockpile” on Rock 96.3 WSFQ Weekdays from 10 am to 2pm AND “The BigVin Radio Show” on Cat Country 95.1 from 2pm to 6pm during the busy “drivetime” Mondays thru Fridays.
But due to the economy, even the radio gig has since “downsized”.
Randy currently performs his original material as a solo artist., and the release of his long awaited debut solo CD “ONE” is getting great responses from the listening public and the radio-waves. This CD was over 4 years in the making, and is filled with 16 Great tunes! Make sure to get YOUR copy soon!
In 2007, Randy received the SOWI (Songwriters Of Wisconsin International) Songwriter of the Year Award.
Randy travels back and forth to Nashville a couple times a year and spends weeks co-writing with the many great friends he has met down there. Some of his material has even been considered by the likes of Jeff Carson, Gary Allan, and Brad Paisley (who rarely looks at songs written outside his “circle”),
Two of Randy’s good friends and co-writers are stars of the 2nd season of CMT’s “Can You Duet” (Meghan Linsey and Josh Jones). Randy currently resides in Peshtigo Wisconsin with his Wife Shelly, and daughter Catie-Jean.
