Overview: Horn driven rock and roll, that's the essence of Six Foot Joe's music. With a sound that's six feet tall, hard-blowing sax man and vocalist Six Foot Joe revs up his own blend of rock & roll/blues with horns a plenty. Influenced by sax icons King Curtis and Jr. Walker and horn bands like Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes, Jack Mack & the Heart Attack and the Powder Blues Band, Joe's songwriting covers everything from horn flavored rockers/blues to compelling story songs. Combining his passion for early rock & roll and lyrical imagery, Joe's lyrical influences rest squarely on the shoulders of guys like Bruce Springsteen and Joe Ely---two artists who are master word-smiths. Along with his horn driven CDs, Joe takes center stage with his own hip-brand of rocking-blues flavored music with his backing band, the Red Hot Rhinos.

Some say it started on that hot August night back in 1984 at the Stone Pony Bar in New Jersey when Joe shook Bruce Spingsteen's hand. You see, Richie "LaBamba" Rosenberg (Southside Johnny's trombone man), and his band the Hub Caps, were rocking the joint and Bruce made an impromptu appearance at the club---hitting the stage at a quarter to two and rocking the place for a good 30 minutes. It sure was a night to remember for Joe, meeting one of his rock and roll heroes. But in reality, meeting Bruce on that hot summer night was just rocket fuel for Joe. Since that magical night Joe has put the pedal to the metal, carving out his own brand of rock and roll both in the studio and on stage.
As an accomplished musician, songwriter and arranger, Joe has performed, written and arranged for horn-rock bands, small jazz groups and even gospel ensembles, for over 25 years. Winning and/or placing in various song contests over the years, Joe is constantly honing his songwriting chops with an ever expanding eclectic song catalog. And with sax in hand, Joe continues to thrill crowds across the front range with his hard working band the Red Hot Rhinos---which features a horn section of 3 trumpets along with Joe's sax! A lot of bands put their horns in back of both their sound and on stage; Joe puts his horn section up front and center. Its pretty simple really, just get that classic rock and roll beat and rev it up with a big fat horn sound---and then just hold on!
