Talk about detonating on impact: The Virginmarys’ debut album, KING OF CONFLICT (Wind-up), was given a royal reception from iTunes, who spotlighted the disc with their coveted “Editor’s Choice” honors and a history-making Single of the Week feature. Two versions of the song “Just A Ride” (the amped and acoustic renditions) were featured as part of the online retailer’s “Single of the Week” program, the first time ever that iTunes singled out two songs from the same album in the same week. Rolling Stone, Spinner.com and USA Today added to the buzz, with the latter giving the album 3 ½ out of 4 stars and comparing the Brit trio to The Who, Motorhead and Nirvana.
Praised by the BBC for their "raw, intoxicating rock & roll," The Virginmarys (guitarist/vocalist Ally Dickaty, drummer Danny Dolan and bassist/vocalist Matt Rose) blend the sound and fury of Mudhoney and the Screaming Trees with the honesty of prime British rock of the early 1970’s. On stage or in rehearsals, this trio are at their most comfortable with instruments in hand and they prove it on KING OF CONFLICT, an album that was recorded live in the studio with Toby Jepson producing and Chris Sheldon (Pixies, Foo Fighters) mixing and captures the band at their thrilling best.
